Parachute Games are always fun Parachute
play can be effectively combined with musical play for added enjoyment and
learning. Valuable aspects such as teamwork, cooperation and inclusiveness are
all shared benefits of both music and parachute play.
Parachute games
Ring-a-ring-o roses
play a cd and shake the parachute fast and slow with the music
Swap spot - give each child a number, colour, shape etc and when you call out that number they run through the parachute and swap with someone with the same number on the other side
Follow the leader - have a parent take the lead and call out things you can do with the parachute eg put you right hand under
put the parachute on the ground and call out a colour, all the children then have to sit on that colour on the parachute
Popcorn - put balls, feathers, cotton balls, balloons, soft toys etc on the parachute and shake, toss them up in the air, try to hit the roof
have children jumping on the parachute or sitting under the parachute while the parents shake it
act out a nursery rhyme - Five rabbits were hiding In the woods one day.
1-2-3-4-5 jumped out and then they ran away. Have the children under the parachute while the parents say the rhyme. When you get to the rabbits running away lift the parachute and the children run out or Try this Rhyme, same thing when you get to 5 the children come buzzing out from under the hive Here is the beehive, where are the bees? Hidden away where nobody sees Watch and you will see them come out of their hives, One, two, three, four, five, Buzz, buzz, buzz.

Musical hoops, when the music stops have the children stand in a hoop. This can be extended by having a certain number of children in each hoop
Hide and Seek
Skipping rope games, if the children are too small to jump the skipping rope while it is swinging put the skipping rope on the ground and wriggle it a little
Hot Potato

Birds nest - 3 children play. have 3 hoops (nests) and 7 bean bags (eggs), place the bean bags in the center of the triangle of hoops. Each child has to fill their nest with 3 eggs and they can only collect 1 at a time. They will need to take eggs from the other childrens nests
Get the musical instruments out and play along with a cd or sing some musical songs eg I am a fine Musician
Ball games, kick a ball into the soccer net, have all the children in a circle and throw or roll the ball to each of them when you call their name
Put on a cd and dance to the action songs eg songs like heads and shoulders, rolly polly
